AWAKE (Advocacy for Women’s Access, Knowledge, and Empowerment) is dedicated to uplifting women and girls in Pakistan. Through education, advocacy, and support, we strive to break barriers, challenge inequalities, and create lasting change in communities
Our Purpose
To uphold human rights in Canada, in accordance with the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and/or the United Nations human rights treaties and related protocols, by creating and undertaking awareness campaigns and distributing material that increases public knowledge about human rights issues and abuses.
– To uphold human rights in Pakistan and other developing countries, in accordance with the United Nation’s human rights treaties and related protocols by:
a. providing legal counselling to children and women in need who have experienced violence, injustice and discrimination or are facing legal issues concerning human rights; and
b. establishing legal clinics for the poor to ensure their access to legal protection and remedies as provided by existing human rights legislation;
– To advance education in Pakistan and other developing countries by providing publicly available scholarships, bursaries, and other forms of financial assistance to students in need to be used for secondary education.
– To advance the education of at-risk girls, youth, and women by providing workshops, seminars, presentations, and training on human rights subjects, as well as building self-esteem, life skills, leadership skills, and related topics
